Description | View of a flag draped casket carrying William H. Jutras, St. Augustin Parish. The casket is on a caisson with soldiers on both sides of the street, July 4, 1921. Lieutenant Jutras was a member of the 103rd Infantry Regiment and one of forty-seven men from Manchester who were killed in action during the First World War. Lt. Jutras was named a posthumous recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross. Originally buried in France in 1918, his remains were repatriated after the war and he was buried in the Jutras family plot at St. Augustin Cemetery in Manchester on July 4, 1921. American Legion Post No. 43 on the West Side of Manchester was named the William H. Jutras Post in his memory. |
