Description | View of the Old Massabesic House with People and Buggies, Ca. 1880. An example of a neoclassical house with many additions and out buildings, The central structure is three stories mansard roof with roof balustrade and copula, a two story portico with columns, wrap around porch, pilasters, and different window treatments. A number of other building are attached. The Massabesic House was a hotel, cafe, picnic grounds and well known resort, located at the northern tip of Massabesic Lake near Candia Road and the London Derry Turnpike. It was owned by Gen. Charles Williams. |
