| Description | Head and shoulders portrait of George Sanford Foster, MD (1882-1945), quarter turn to the right facing forward. Dr. Foster was born in Barrington and moved to Manchester with his family at a young age. He graduated cum laude from Tufts Medical school in 1906 and shortly after began practicing medicine as a surgeon. He served in both world wars in the Navy Medical Corps, and came out of retirement to serve in WWII. He died suddenly in Washington while serving during the war. George and his wife Elizabeth lived at 925 Chestnut St., Manchester. |
