Description Portrait of Lucien Hippolyte Gosselin. Mr. Gosselin was born in Whitefield, N.H. on January 2, 1883, son of Fidele and Lucrece Gosselin. His father was long associated with the Amoskeag Mfg. Co. His mother came from a family of sculptors. Mr. Gosselin was a renowned New England sculptor. His work ranged from an occasional medal to great statutes or majestic memorials. In 1920 he was the director of the School of Sculptors at the Manchester Institute of Arts and Sciences. Among his outstanding statues in Manchester are the World War Memorial (1928), Pulaski Memorial (1938), and Sweeney Memorial (1931). He died on March 25, 1940 at the age of 57.
